Slightly textured, sandblasted bar-ends to help keep bar tape in placeĪ company known for its cutting-edge manufacturing techniques, FSA has the ability to form and manipulate high-strength 7075 Aluminum to give the Energy Wing Pro Compact bars optimal properties and shaping. The shallow drop (125mm) and short reach (80mm) result in easier control-lever actuation without over-extension, allowing riders to maintain hand position resulting in easier access to the controls for better control overall, and elimination of over-exaggerated hand positioning greatly improves overall comfort.įSA designed their compact bars so the rider is in a drop position allowing for better airflow, thus improving breathing.ĭouble butted, tapered, shot-peened 7050 aluminum with cable grooveġ20mm wide round center section for easy mounting of accessories The wall thickness of the aluminum tubing varies throughout they are thickest only where reinforcement is necessary and thin everywhere else for ultimate weight savings. The bar tops feature an ergonomic 34mm Ergo flat top for maximum comfort through increased surface area as well as a generous center section with plenty of room for mounting accessories.

I felt like I was poking my elbows out to counteract it, a little like Chris Froome. It could simply be that I'm not used to this position, but having tried lots of different styles and shapes of handlebars, this didn't seem very ergonomic. While riding and moving from the hoods to the forward-sweeping flats, the amount of rotation in the hands is quite substantial, and after prolonged use I found it quite uncomfortable. That makes them quite long, and longer than most other similar handlebars if you are changing from a bar with shorter reach, this will have a small effect on handling. The reach measurement also changes for each of the three bar sizes – FSA lists it as 80mm, but measured from the centre of the stem it increases from 87.4mm for the 42cm bar, to 88.6mm and 89.8mm for the 44 and 46cm bars respectively.
